The name Lucoderm is derived from the Latin word "lucis dermis" which means "clear skin".
It was during 1987 when Mike Gibbons was Chief Pharmacist at Louis Leipoldt hospital that
Lucoderm was born.

Quality control was Lucoderm Pharmaceuticals first priority and the cream now sells from Upington to George in +300 pharmacies with the assistance of four wholesalers.

In August 2008 the volume warranted the appointment of Edelweis Pharmaceuticals to prepare the creams.

With the Infrastructure available steps are being taken to go countrywide with Lucoderm.
